What is NLP?
Is a method of influencing brain behaviour (the “neuro” part of the phrase) through the use of language (the “linguistic” part) and other types of communication to enable a person to “recode” the way the brain responds to stimuli (that’s the “programming”) and manifest new and better behaviours. Neuro-Linguistic Programming often incorporates hypnosis and self-hypnosis to help achieve the change (or “programming”) that is wanted.
So how does it work?
THINK OF THIS….
A————————–>B
Imagine you know how to get from A to B. Every day you move from A to B and see, hear and feel everything associated with A to B. You brain develops expected behaviours for the responses arising from A to B. All you can experience, understand and rationalise falls between A to B.
So if you want to change something it is difficult when everything your brain expects is about A to B.
Now imagine someone shows you A to B via X.
A—————————>X—————————–>B
A different pathway, with different things to see, feel and hear. A completely different reason for why, how and even what. What would your brain do now?
You see the brain is an amazing thing. If it is given a different point of view it will explore it, develop new neural networks, new ways of rationalising and new behavioural responses. So get what you want out of your behaviour. Stop just expecting A to B. There are another 24 letters in the alphabet…… It really is that simple!
Can it help with weight loss?
The beauty of doing NLP with hypnosis is during the session you can make decisions at an unconscious level that you will be committed to. During hypnosis if you decide something, then you can be sure that it’s been permanently decided.
To make change one thing has to happen first. You must decide. You might be reading this and have had enough. As I tell many of my patients the pain associated with feeling your worst, your heaviest, your most neglected is usually the most motivating for change. If you have had enough of being overweight, what would it mean to you to regain control? Think of what it would be like to finally be able to make choices that serve you. Imagine what your ideal weight would look like. Imagine how you would feel. What has to happen to make it happen?
How can NLP help you to quit smoking?
Using Hypnosis will change the way your brain automatically feels when you think of a cigarette and allow you to have no cravings as you easily and effortlessly, make change in your behaviour.
Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Hypnosis. Used together has amazing benefits. Firstly it’s instant, secondly it’s permanent, lastly and importantly it stops you from substituting smoking for a new unwanted behaviour like overeating or indulging.
NLP uses a 6 step process to help you quit smoking:
